I didn't create these userboxes, but I have modified them - usually by changing the colours and adding different images:
| Code |
Result |
Users |
| {{Template:User New York}} |
|
Transclusions |
| I enlarged the state seal via Inkscape and put it on a blue background. Previous versions used the NY state flag, but the seal was too small and looked bad on userboxes. |
| {{User:Scepia/TV}} |
|
Transclusions |
| The TV I have obviously used before. Previous to this it was just "TV" in the text. |
| {{User:Scepia/CWO}} |
|
Transclusions |
| This userbox didn't have an image before. For those who have seen the film, there is a scene where Alex is forced to watch a film with his eyes wired open. I just happened to find a similar (though gross) image on Wikipedia Commons that could match it. |
| {{User:UBX/hunting}} |
 |
This user is interested in hunting. |
|
Transclusions |
| Although I'm anti-gun I do have some knowledge about them. I find, however, that the horizontal pics of rifles do not translate well into userboxes. In this case I replaced an average looking rifle pic with this set of crosshairs. |
| {{User:UBX/Blackadder}} |
|
Transclusions |
| A bit of an optical illusion, this one. As any fan of Blackadder knows, Blackadder II occurs during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the first. I originally tried to find a pic of Liz-1 but it didn't turn out right. Then I discovered this joining of two pics - Elizabeth I and the Pope at the time. In its small size it actually looks like Liz and Melchitt from the TV show. |
| {{User:Porsche997SBS/Userboxes/User Int. SM}} |
|
Transclusions |
| The previous userbox contained a pic of a building that turned out to be a sharemarket. Graphs going up look better to me. |
| {{User:UBX/NFL-Colts}} |
|
Transclusions |
| I always try to keep colour schemes consistent in userboxes. Originally the infobox background was a light blue but not the same colour as the blue in the horseshoe. I also increased the size of the horseshoe. |
| {{User:P.B. Pilhet/UBX/Evolution}} |
|
Transclusions |
| This is an example of a two coloured userbox that I turned into one. Graphically I think the userbox is more powerful if the colours are used properly. In this case, Darwin had a black background but didn't seem to fit with the green of the infobox. I changed it to the same green colour and I reckon it looks better. |
| {{User:P.B. Pilhet/UBX/God}} |
 |
This user loves God more than anyone and anything! |
 |
|
Transclusions |
| I actually hate this userbox because it is sentimental, romantic and glurgy. But it wasn't my place to destroy it. Originally the background behind the hearts and the God painting was white. Making it all pink made it look better (even though I wish it would not be used). |
| {{User:Evan C/Userboxes/User Roadfan}} |
|
Transclusions |
| The original road in the image was terribly difficult to see, so I searched Wikipedia Commons to find a better road and this one came up. |
| {{User:UBX/Bible Reader}} |
 |
This user is a Bible reader.
|
|
Transclusions |
| When people use black backgrounds they often forget the fact that any links turn up blue. The standard blue of links is very difficult to see on black backgrounds, so I changed this one to red. |
| {{User:William Pembroke/Userboxes/Treble}} |
 |
This user plays his or her music in the treble clef. |
|
Transclusions |
| Another example of the text colour being hard to see that I improved. I'm not sure about the text colour here though. |
| {{Template:User Colorado}} |
 |
This user lives in or is from the State of Colorado. |
|
Transclusions |
| I made the flag background the same as the infobox background. It was a darker blue before. |
| {{User:Patricknoddy/Userboxes/User dislikes the new DST time}} |
 |
This user dislikes the new DST time. |
New DST Time |
|
Transclusions |
| The clock is not centred in the pic, which means that a square ID box looked unbalanced. I increased the size of the clock and gave it the same grey background. |
| {{User:Disavian/Userboxes/Public Transit}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Replaced the hard-to-see train picture with the svg image shown. |
| {{User:Scepia/pen spinner}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Background of ID box changed to match that of infobox. |
| {{User:Scepia/flags}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Made the writing black to make it easier to read. |
| {{User:Karlhahn/user born administration}} |
|
Transclusions |
| This was a difficult one. I decided that the Nixon image needed to be changed so that it was just his face. Then the userbox creator contacted me and asked me to find pics of Carter and GHW Bush. The results can be found here. |
| {{Template:User Jesus believe}} |
|
Transclusions |
| There was an orange background behind the image which really jarred with me. Again I simply changed the colour to match that of the infobox. |
| {{Template:User Missouri}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Another image background to infobox colour matchup. |
| {{Template:User anti-gun}} |
Template:User anti-gun |
Transclusions |
| I made the font bold. It gives the impression of forthrightness. Before that the unbolded yellow on blue looked timid. |
| {{User:Mtmelendez/Userboxes/No Globalization}} |
|
Transclusions |
| One of my favourite ones. There is a whole heap of Indonesian slum images in Wikipedia Commons and I found this one one of the boy being photographed in the slum. His head shot is big enough to see in a userbox, as well as the rubbish pile in the background. Originally the text of the userbox said "This user is against the globalization effort", which implied that the user was against something that was inherently good. Anti-globalization people (of which I am NOT one) see globalization as enslaving the poor around the world, hence the link between "against globalization", and the pic of the poor boy. The use of black and white is meant to signify right and wrong, ie the issue is one of morality, not just economics and politics. |
| {{User:Mkdw/BBC}} |
| BBC |
This user supports the BBC. |
|
Transclusions |
| Another favourite one. The BBC logo is copyrighted so it can't be used on userboxes. I reasoned, however, that I could use some html markups and nowiki-ing to create the impression that it was the BBC logo. It doesn't look perfect, but it's better than simple "BBC". |
| {{Template:User U.S. history}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Originally a white background behind the US flag. |
| {{User:UBX/vaw}} |
|
Transclusions |
| This is one of the more popular and heart wrenching userboxes that people have. Unfortunately I found the image to be too hard to see (along with a white background), plus the use of a white font on a pink background. It just didn't have the impact that it should. So I downloaded the Golpiza pic, cropped it with The Gimp so that you could see her face better. The black and pink colours communicate both femininity and bruises - a colour scheme it had before but not as definite or as bold as I have made it. I'm pretty happy with this one. |
| {{User:Sarah sofía/Catalan Ancestry}} |
|
|
This user is from Catalan Ancestry. |
|
Transclusions |
| I changed the ID and infobox background colours to match that of the Catalan flag. |
| {{User:Saoshyant/Userboxes/User uncyclopedia}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Originally the image was a red potato. I assumed that the reason why was because the uncyclopedia image was not free. Think again. |
| {{User:Ashley Y/Userbox/Calvinist}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Background behind Calvin turned grey. |
| {{User:Hexagon1/EU}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Replaced flag with Euro stars on correct blue background. Bigger stars make it look better. |
| {{User:One/Userboxes/User firearm}} |
 |
This user is interested in firearms and is generally knowledgeable about them. |
|
Transclusions |
| Originally the image was that of a crouching soldier firing an M16. It was a black and white symbol taken from a US Army manual. It actually looked quite good when it was larger, but in the userbox it was just a vague collection of black dots. There are lots of firearm pics out there to choose from but I chose this one because it shows a pistol after being taken apart, which communicates some level of technical understanding which fits with what the userbox is actually about. |
| {{Template:User bass}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Replaced simple "bass" word in ID box with pic of bass notes. |
| {{User:Myrtone86/Social Democrat (OSV)}} |
|
Transclusions |
| Replaced original Rose with a better one (deliberately contrasting red and white). Bolded white font. |
