One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours is the third album by British Rock quartet Fightstar. The album was written and demoed in Northampton in Al's barn and then recorded in Los Angeles with producer Matt Wallace. The band have said their sound on this album will be heavier in parts, but also more melodic in others.[citation needed] The first news of the album came early in spring 2007, when the band announced a handful of tracks as well as the album's then-working title, "Questions".[citation needed] "Floods" was intended to be the first single, but was later changed to "We Apologise For Nothing" in light of the recent flooding in Britain. "Deathcar" was the band's next single, which was the first record on the VinylDisc format to be released in the UK. "Floods" was finally released as the third official single on March 3rd 2008. "I am The Message" will be released as the fifth and final single from the album on June 16th 2008, before the band begin work on the next album.

The album was released on Institute Records, although Fightstar were also in talks with other labels including Roadrunner, Metal Blade and Sony BMG.

The album's title most likely takes its name from a song by British band Oceansize on their first album Effloresce, named "One Day All This Could Be Yours". Charlie Simpson has expressed his liking for Oceansize, once personally choosing them to support Fightstar during touring.

The track 'Unfamiliar Ceilings' also represents another case of Fightstar's interest in Neon Genesis Evangelion. The song title comes from a line that the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, speaks during the series. The single for Deathcar also contains two b-sides; namely "NERV/SEELE" (named after the 2 factions from the Evangelion series) and the track "Shinji Ikari", after the aforementioned character of the same name.
