Omissions in the Gospel of Mark

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gospel of Mark has interesting omissions, when compared with the other Gospels:

  • Like the Gospel of John, but unlike Matthew and Luke, it has no stories about the Nativity or the childhood of Jesus.
  • Unlike the other three gospels, it has no mention of the Samaritans.
  • It has no Parables.
  • The lament of Jesus over Jerusalem ("O Jerusalem... how often would I have gathered thee...") is found in Luke and Matthew, but not in Mark.
  • Unlike the other three gospels, the Gospel of Mark (in its oldest and most authentic versions) has no account of the Resurrection of Jesus, and no post-Resurrection appearances.
