Omid Abtahi

Omid Abtahi is an American actor of Iranian descent. Before moving to the United States Abtahi and his family lived in Europe and the Middle East.

Before acting on television Abtahi performed on stage in many theatrical productions including Fraulein Else at the Berkeley Repertory, McCarter Theatre and Longwarf Theatre; Adoration of the Old Woman at the Sundance Theatre Lab and Your Everyday Typical Romantic Comedy at the Kennedy Centre. He has also guest starred on the television series JAG, Judging Amy and 24.

Abtahi has recently filmed the movie Running With Scissors, which he co-stars along with Annette Bening and Gwyneth Paltrow. The film was released in 2006.

Since arriving in Los Angeles, Omid has been a series regular on FX’s "Over There" and Showtime’s "Sleeper Cell".

While preparing for the role of Pvt. Tariq Nassiri on the television series] Over There, Abtahi learnt how to speak Arabic and studied Middle Eastern culture.

Omid also appeared in the film "Mysteries of Pittsburgh" which premiered at Sundance in 2008. He starred alongside Peter Saarsgard, Nick Nolte, Jon Foster, and Sienna Miller.

Omid recently just finished shooting "Brothers", a film directed by Jim Sheridan. The film is set for release in December of 2008. He stars alongside Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman, and Jake Gyllenhaal. During the Summer of 2008, you will also hear Omid as the voice of Dr. Jagu in Vanguard Animation's "Space Chimps" starring the voices of Andy Samberg, Jeff Daniels, and Stanley Tucci.
