Omega Race is a monochrome vector arcade game created by Midway Games in 1981. The player pilots a space ship around a rectangular track and must shoot other ships on the track with his ship's laser. The enemy ships can fire back at the player, change into faster vessels and are capable of laying mines on the track as an extra measure of defense. The game shares a few similarities to the game Asteroids (arcade game) in that the background music is a similar droning type and the ship operates in the same fashion as the one in Asteroids (arcade game). The rectangular track however doesn't allow the player to wrap around like in Asteroids (arcade game). There are edge boundaries that become visible when the ship collides with them
