Mugshot of New York gangster Owney "The Killer" Madden. The picture is provided by NYPD archives and featured in Herbert Asbury's 1926 book "The Gangs of New York". I believe this picture to be in public domain as all of the images and pictures included therin range between 1840 to 1920's. The photo, which as a booking photo is considered in the public domain by US copyright law, falls under fair use as an historically significant photo of a famous individual and used for informational purposes.
