Just wanted everyone to know that I am related to this guy (same surname). As far as I know he's the closest most important person I am related to. I know you don't care but there you go. --Stevekl 01:40, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

I'll assume from the interest in this article many people know about Loving, but there's nothing in the article that established notablity. His claim to notability seems to be having the trail named after him, but as the article says, it was used by other cattlemen before.

The Cowboy Hall of Fame does NOT have the same criteria for notability as Wiki does. Apparently according to this, for example, one could get into the the Hall of Fame simply by giving $1,000,000 to an art museum, or just by being honest, self-sufficient, and having integrity.

Qualifications from Hall of Great Westerners one of the halls of National Cowboy Hall of Fame

  • Exceptional contribution to the advancement of Western heritage and traditions over a lifetime.
  • Individuals who promote America's rich Western heritage through their leadership and patronage of art, business industry, environmental, education, humanitarian, government or philanthropic organizations.
  • Achievement of national significance and historic relevance.
  • Exemplification of the traditional Western ideals of honesty, integrity and self-sufficiency over a lifetime.
