[edit] WWI wounds

It says he was wounded at the offensive Somme in 1914. Surely the Somme offensive was 1916? Does anyone know which is the rightb year? I would guess 1916 since he volunteered to join the army after the outbreak of war in 1914 and is therefore unlikely to have seen action in that year.
