Hasn't the Karoo thrush also be split into a new species - Turdus smithii. I cannot find any original articles to back this up, although there are several sites referencing the split e.g. http://eprints.ru.ac.za/161/, http://www.worldtwitch.com/cgi-bin/birdbook.pl/noframes/read/63. If this is the case there should be reference here as well as on List_of_birds_of_South_Africa#Species_list and possibly elsewhere too, but I'm not going to jump the gun and be bold, despite the policy.

well it seems that T. smithi was a subspecies of the Olive Thrush too. http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/nisc/ostrich/2003/00000074/F0020001/art00001 --Melly42 22:08, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
