A good deal of this text is cut and pasted from http://www.eng.uci.edu/~pfluegl/2003.12.24.BilbaoOlentzeroTrip.php It needs to be Wikified and restated. --Wetman 12:22, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Might this have some relation to the Catalan Tió de Nadal? -- Jmabel | Talk 19:07, Jan 25, 2005 (UTC)

Olentzero means "coal-burner" in basque. I don't know if the other bit about his name is true, doesn't sound like it, but I won't change it.84.18.19.240 17:00, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

References!? I only find ikatz for "coal". --Error 00:37, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Update

I've rewritten a lot of the article and referenced it. I haven't checked out the link above yet so I've stuck to citation needed onto the text (where the stories are given) - which is why I've broadly left them for the time being, I'll check the rest out asap. Ok, done. Akerbeltz (talk) 17:26, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
