The claim about the Ciera being 'one of the best-selling cars of all time that only sold one generation' and comparing them to the Beetle and the Mini is a little spurious - as both the Beetle and the Mini went through many reshapes, revamps and varients in their long production runs (Mini 1959 - 2000 and Beetle 1938-2003) and neither can be regarded as single generation cars.
