This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Old World porcupine article.

Article policies

The nederlands interwiki leads to a disambiguation page, differentiating between old world and new world porcupines. the Old World Porcupine article wasn't created there yet.

I'm removing the interwiki link.

[edit] Picture identifications

Are we sure the animal in the taxobox is really Athererus and not Hystrix? --Aranae 05:04, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Trichys macrotis validity

I can't find any species authority on Trichys macrotis. With the exception of Wikipedia and info harvest websites there is no evidence of this binomial even existing, and the species is not included in MacDonald's 2006 Encyclopedia of Mammals. I am removing it until a citation is added. --EllisD 02:51, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Woods and Kilpatrick (2006) list it as a junior synonym of T. fasciculata. You were correct to drop it. --Aranae 00:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
