[edit] Article Critic

This article itself is too general: most styles of karate train kata, most if not all have more than two kata, many styles have diverse techniques. For example, it is interesting that beginners are taught rolls, break falls: why? What attacks are trained that require these techniques for beginners? Under whom did Bernard Collins ( both titles should be removed to meet Wiki standards) study? And lastly, the article really needs more good quality references - it will live or die on that point alone. jmcw 08:17, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

This subject {"Okuno Ryu") produces 54 Google results. Fudokan was chased out of wiki space and into user space with 33000 Google results and several internation web sites. I don't think this article will survive the first visit of an exclusionist. jmcw 09:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I found in his obituary that he received a special presidential recognition for his accomplishments in karate. That should enough to establish notability in karate. He also worked for NASA at Cape Canaveral. During launch preparation on March 19, 1981, he took control in an emergency and was later commended for saving the lives of 15 people. He does not sound like McDojo to me. jmcw 10:56, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why would is not survive?

I fail to see why you believe the article would not survive. You must realize Okuno Ryu is a newer art, and therefore has not attained a large history such as shaolin Kung Fu, or what have you. This article does cover all of the key elements of Okuno Ryu, such as brief history, its creator, and his background. In addition to this, all electronic links have been placed on the article, which includes the arts' main site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.111.146.130 (talk) 17:02, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
