October 29: Republic Day in Turkey
More events: October 28 – October 29 – October 30 |
Removed:
- 1682 - William Penn arrives in Pennsylvania
Could not be confirmed outside of 'this day in history'-type websites (very bad source). --mav 01:13, 29 Oct 2003 (UTC)
Moved:
- 1942 - The Alaska Highway is completed.
Happened the day before. --mav 01:13, 29 Oct 2003 (UTC)
Removed:
- 1998 - In London, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman win a substantial settlement from Express Newspapers for an article that was run on October 5, 1997 that claimed that both were homosexual and their marriage was a sham.
Celebrity news doesn't seem very important in the general scheme of things. This kind of thing happens all the time, why should it be on Wikipedia?
(I made other changes in the edit, if this is overturned please just reinsert it instead of reverting the edit.)
--- Removed: 1945 - At Gimbels Department Store in New York City the first ballpoint pens go on sale (price: $12.50 each).
- The article specifies trhat biros were made in Argentina two years previous to this (and presumably were also sold there, not merely stockpiled indefinately). So the anniversary is of the first US sales, not the first World sales ... and we're not into US-centricism, non? --Tagishsimon
