Just a thought as to an addition to the article... In 2004, in a poll commissioned by Music Choice, Catalyst was voted as the 28th best song in Europe, out of 100. I remember at the time that the official website co-ordinated a voting effort to get it up there, so it was doubtlessly skewed, but it could still be worth mentioning. Unfortunately I've not got an online reference any more, just a newspaper clipping from a national newspaper with the full 100.

I've removed the link to this category as at least 4 of the original 5 members are not from Manchester, as can be seen in this interview with Mike Vennart and Steve Durose [1].

This article is AWFUL! It was obviously written by some manic fan, it needs huge cleanup! 81.179.73.177 22:45, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm doing a bit of cleaning up. 82.39.66.168 claimed in an edit comment that "the band keep saying" that they aren't prog; I've mentioned this in the introduction. The article already mentioned that some label the band as indie and as metal. So I've included all these genres without citation. I would like someone else to find a source for the rejection, please. I'm inclined to think the metal and prog labels need no citation, but I think Wikipedia disagrees. I disagree on the indie bit, but I'm not about to delete one label while leaving two others in place uncited. Gnodez 18:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Wouldn't it make more sense to list them as "art rock"?. They don't quite fit the genre of progressive rock and "new prog" sounds silly. Their music fits the "art rock" label, which is basically what this new genre of "new prog" is, only "art rock" has been around much longer. Zanders5k 00:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

And it is true that there is plenty of citation to back up putting progressive rock in the genre box, so I am fine with that. Zanders5k (talk) 22:07, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

At the presint time the info box does not say either of the above; it says "New-prog" and "Post-rock". Until recently it also said "space rock" which is mentioned in the article's opening paragraph. About that... there is an article for space rock and it has a list of bands, including Oceansize. There is also a note at the top of the list (which I inserted) saying that any band listed here must have an article, and it must state in the opening paragraph and the info box that they are a space rock group. (Come to think of it, I added "space rock" to the info box myself so it would meet the list's rule.) Recently, another editor removed Oceansize from the list. I put it back because that genre is stated in the Oceansize article. I suggested to the editor that if he disagrees with the claim that Oceansize is space rock, he should change the article. Which he did, or at least partly!

So, to anyone who knows more about the group than I do... is this a valid genre for the group? My concern is not about taking a side, but about making sure the article decides one way or the other, so we can determine whether or not they should be mentioned in the Space Rock article. Sorry for the long explanation, but that's all I'm asking about. I've invited the other editor who changed the article to join this discussion. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 15:48, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
