Oboyan

Oboyan (Russian: Обоя́нь) is a town in Kursk Oblast, Russia, located some 60 km south of Kursk on the right bank of the Psyol River at its confluence with the Oboyanka River. Population: 14,100 (2005 est.); 14,618 (2002 Census).
Oboyan was founded in 1639 as a fortress on the southern borders of the Russian state. It was granted town status in 1779.
