[edit] Citing
I'm kind of unclear when to cite sources or not. Should I cite a website if I just steal a huge chunk of info from it? (like I did for the JICA Obihiro blurb)Yaki-gaijin 02:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, you should provide a citation in some form for pretty much any statement of fact that is not reasonably obvious. External links in the article body are undesirable, so use the <ref></ref> tags and, for instance, the {{cite}} template.
- Note that you shouldn't steal text wholesale from another site unless that site's content is properly licensed, or the passage falls under fair use.

Oooook, so maybe I should delete that whole paragraph and rewrite in my own words...? (the entire description of JICA Obihiro) Yaki-gaijin 02:53, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds like a good idea. Descriptions straight from the entity in question, like the JICA example, tend to be extremely POV in terms of self-promotion and have unnecessarily flowery language. -Amake 03:20, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
