Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

My understanding is the identification of cities is based upon the most recent census, not the estimates of the census bureau. If that is wrong, I apologize, but I don't know how the identification could be based upon "estimates". subdn

Well, I am clearly missing something here, as the page has been revised yet again to reflect that Troy is more populous than Farmington Hills, when the respective pages clearly show that Farmington Hills, based on an actual census, and not an "estimate" is more populous than Troy. What am I missing? subdn

OK, my mistake. I could have sworn I compared the two pages and saw Troy with the lartger population, but they have not been edited recently, so either my browser is playing tricks on me or I was delusional. As of the 2000 Census figure, Farmington Hills was larger. Starting with the 2003 estimate, Troy has been slihtly ahead. Farmington Hills Troy olderwiser 20:03, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Although, oddly enough, the county population in this article is for the 2005 estimate. olderwiser 20:05, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
I guess my thought is that the fact that the 2005 estimate is for Oakland County only proves my point. The "estimate"s are inherently less reliable than the actual census, so they don't provide estimates as frequently for smaller subsets (cities) as compared to larger subsets (counties). In any event, I think your resolution was appropriate. :) subdn
Actually, they do provide annual estimates for cities. See the links I provided above. I believe the estimates are regarded as fairly accurate. olderwiser 21:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
