Oakwood Broadway Plaza is a high-rise apartment building in Rochester, Minnesota. At 29 stories and 342 feet up, it is the tallest building in Rochester. The building has 146 apartments and retail space on the first floor. [2] The elaborate Rochester skyway system includes an arm into the south-side of Oakwood's second floor. On the first floor there is a restaurant called Camille's Sidewalk Cafe.
Oakwood is the tallest residential building inside an American city with population less than 200,000 people [3].

[edit] Replacing Time Square
The Rochester City Council chose this building over the "Time Square" building proposed by local business magnate Gus Chafoulias. His building would have stood on the same address and risen an additional 80 some feet. It would have had 35 stories and been 425 ft tall. But in May 2000, the council chose the Oakwood Plaza even though it had previously approved Chafoulias's building in 1998[4].
