[edit] Summary
Taken by Eric Hess. These are the Juliet x-metal frames with a newer version of the ruby lenses without serial number on the frame. Older Ruby lenses had deeper reds and purple added in and included serial numbers as well. The original Juliet w/Ruby lenses were often referred to as "Ruby Quartz" lenses. Although Oakley doesn't seem to discuss many aspects of their business practices, it is thought that the ruby lenses used in the Juliets and Pennys were discontinued due to cost of manufacturing and the level of difficulty required to make consistent batches, which could be why the newer ruby lenses look orangy in color instead of the "true" ruby red fans loved back in 2000.
