O, ce veste minunată!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
O, ce veste minunată is a Christmas carol, sung primarily in Romanian-speaking communities and countries. Like many other traditional songs, there are umpteen versions of it. E.g. some have "Viflaim" for Bethlehem, some have "S-a nascut Mesia" (The Messiah was born).

O, ce veste minunată!
În Betlehem ni s-arată!
||: Astăzi s-a născut cel făr' de-nceput,
cum au spus proorocii. :||
Că la Betlehem Maria,
Săvârşind călătoria
||: Într-un mic sălaş, lângă-acel oraş,
L-a născut pe Mesia. :||
Pre Fiul în al sau nume,
Tatăl L-a trimis in lume.
||: Să se nască, şi să crească,
să ne mântuiască. :||
[edit] Literal English
O, what great news!
Is shown to us in Betlehem!
||: Today has been born, the One without a beginning,
As the Prophets foretold! :||
That in Bethlehem Mary,
Having completed the trip,
||: In a little space, near that town,
She bore The Messiah :||
His Son in His Own Name,
The Father has sent into the world!
||: To be born and to grow,
To absolve us! :||
[edit] Rhyming English
O, great tidings are upon us!
In Bethlehem, shown so wondrous!
||: For today is born, as has been foretold,
The One without beginnings! :||
That in Bethlehem, Holy Mary,
Having done a trip so weary,
||: In a little space, near that fateful place,
She bore The Messiah :||
For His Son in His own Name,
God hath sent into the world!
||: To be born, and to have grown,
To absolve us all! :||
