NYC police cadet corps
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New York City police cadet corps is a form of internship given by the New York City Police department. The program is open to city residents who are enrolled in college and have completed 45 or more credits. Residents who have not yet completed a 45 credit requirement are still able to join under circumstances.
Cadets are trained and then placed into a command such as a precinct or specialized unit. They are trained in Law, Police Science, and Behavioral Science. They are also put through a very similar but shorter physical training that a recruit in a police academy would have to tackle.
Cadets are eligible to claim up to $10,000 in tuition assistance annually. If cadets are promoted to the rank of police officer after two years of service, this tuition assistance is written off and considered repaid or "paid in full".
