Nya Kalmar Arena

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalmar Arena is a top modern multi-use stadium that will be built in the city of Kalmar, Sweden. The stadium will be located in the area known as Bilen, in the North West of Kalmar. The construction work is expected to be finished in April of 2009; however, in an article published the 28th of November in the local newspaper Östra Småland, Mr. Ronny Nilsson, the president of Kalmar Arena Ltd., says that he is worried of the short amount of time and that the stadium may not be ready as expected. When this is written, the stadium has still not begun to erect and the negotiations between the three parts is still going on.

The football stadium will consist of 11,000 seats under roof, and will be equipped with so-called Grassmaster, (grass plus 2-7 per cent artificial turf). Beside the football pitch in the stadium, the construction work also includes three pitches that will be used for practise only (two with natural grass and one with artificial turf).

Kalmar Arena will cost about 170 million Swedish krona and is built in a collaboration with the premier division football club Kalmar FF, Kalmar Municipality and the real estate company Sveafastigheter Inc. Kalmar Arena will replace Kalmar FF's current football stadium, Fredriksskans.
