[edit] History

The street's name is a tribute to Golden Horde and the old road connecting Moscow Kremlin to the Horde. Historically, it was settled by Tatars and Russians trading with them; a separate sloboda of Tolmachi, court translators, emerged there in 15th century. Later, the street acquired slobodas of streltsy troops, royal weavers and other craftsmen.
