[edit] Member governments
Today, each Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation includes several chiefly families, and most include what were once considered several separate local groups.
Before the Indian Act there were many separate governments. These are now consolidated into fourteen local band governments, divided into three regions:
[edit] Southern region
- Ditidaht First Nation
- Huu-ay-aht First Nation
- Hupacasath First Nation
- Tseshaht First Nation
- Uchucklesaht First Nation
[edit] Central region
- Ahousaht First Nation
- Hesquiaht First Nation
- Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations
- Toquaht First Nation
- Ucluelet First Nation
[edit] Northern region
- Ehattesaht First Nation
- Kyuquot/Cheklesahht First Nation
- Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nations
- Nuchatlaht First Nation
Note: The Pacheedaht First Nation, though Nuu-chah-nulth by culture and language, is not a member of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council. Similarly the closely related Ditidaht of the Ditidaht First Nation and the Makah people of the other side of the Strait of Juan de Fuca are not members of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council.
