Nullsoft sg it with recent restructuring and layoff news. This was then picked up by other news outlets (including p2pnet and slashdot), and propagated. At this time, no formal response has been made. Informally, I can confirm that no closure request has been made by aol.

The recording was reportedly inspired by a comment on the original MacAmp forum by Kevin Kuperman, who recounts the story here http://ask.metafilter.com/24200/Should-I-start-using-iTunes#384932 at Metafilter.com, 19 September 2005. Kuperman states the MacAmp forum comment was his, inspired by the album "Fabian Road Warrior" by Wesley Willis.
