Nuclear power in Pakistan

Flag of Pakistan Pakistan, which is not a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has two nuclear reactors of 425 MW power to generate electricity.

A further 137 MW KANUPP reactor, near Karachi, has been operating commercially since 1972. Two 300 MW pressurised water reactors, CHASNUPP-1 and CHASNUPP-2, have also been operational since 2000 near Kundian.

One nuclear power plant is under construction and two new nuclear power plants are proposed.
