The New South Wales Institute of Sport is an operator of high performance sports programs in New South Wales, Australia. The institute has been operating since 1996, and is located at Olympic Park in Sydney.

NSWIS run programs in a number of sports with the objective of preparing youth athletes for national and international competition. Programs are run in the following sports:

[edit] Soccer program

NSWIS runs soccer programs for men and women.

The men's program aims to prepare players for selection in the Australia U17 squad and Australian Institute of Sport program. Athletes in the program are usually 15 or 16 years old. Since 1999, at least six NSWIS athletes have been selected to the U17 Joeys squad for every U17 World Cup. Seven NSWIS athletes were selected for the Australian U16 team in March 2004.[1]

The women's program aims to improve the skills of nationally identified U20 and senior athletes. The Program aims to improve the performance of athletes and increase NSW's representation on U20 and senior national teams. Teams from NSWIS formerly competed in the now defunct WNSL.
