[edit] "long ended"?

Could anyone elaborate on this expression? As in This locomotive had to pass all tests, such as being able to shunt if required, drive "long ended" if needed, and allow drivers to do checks on fuel, brakes, sand etc. Thanks, —Sam Wilson (Australia) 04:38, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fuel efficiency?

Does anyone know anything about the fuel efficiency of NR class locomotives, and any other fuel-related stats (how much, what, refueling...)? —Sam Wilson (Australia) 04:44, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
