Under the management of the Department of Industry and Primary Resources, Mulaut Abattoir Sdn Bhd also known as "Pusat Penyembilihan Ternakan Mulaut" advised all Muslims that with effect on January 20, 2003, all livestock booking for Korban can be made at the Mulaut sales office.

Located at Jalan Kilanas/Mulaut, within Brunei-Muara district, about 12 km from Bandar Seri Begawan with an area of 16 hectares, Mulaut Abattoir's objective is to provide slaughtering facilities in a convenient and hygienic environment.

Korban or sacrifices, which is to be conducted in many areas of the country, will be held on February 12 or 13 (depending on moon sighted). It is called Korban because it stands for fortitude of forbearance in order to gain proximity and nearness to Allah and win his favour. In his commandments regarding the celebration are embodied the great secrets of advancements perpetuity and imperishability of Islam.

That the Muslim Ummah have survived even to this time in the teeth of hardest and powerful opposition are still making ceaseless efforts to march forward on the path of progress and development with the spirit of self-sacrifice and devotion to uphold the right and just cause of self-determination and independence.

In order to meet the specification required for Korban, Ishak, the Operation Manager of Mulaut Abattoir highlighted that the "physical appearance" of the livestock is crucial. It is compulsory in Islam that any livestock slaughtered for Korban must not be handicapped.

In accordance to the requirement of Korban, Mulaut Abattoir said all the livestock would be pre-inspected in Australia by the management before being shipped to Brunei.

Livestock such as cattle, sheep, buffaloes and occasionally venison are imported from the Brunei government's property in Northern Territory, Australia.

Ten years ago (1992), only a total of 114 heads of livestock were slaughtered for Korban. But by 2002, it showed a steady figure of 781 heads of livestock slaughtered.

In order to meet the unexpected high demand for the upcoming Korban, an additional slaughtered floor are to be extended.

Mulaut Abattoir would like to inform all Muslims that the slaughtering services are free.
