Talk:Novelties

[edit] Subject is encyclopedic enough

This should become an encyclopedic article. Novelty item redirects here, and it seems there is quite a bit to write about that. I just saw a R/C tank toy that dishes out light electric shocks offered with a note saying it was not toy, but a "novelty item". It might be interesting to explore if and how you can avoid liability with such a notice in various jurisdictions. That goes clearly beyond a dictionary entry. Algae 14:31, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

I just noticed that our article on tide clock says it's a "novelty clock". Algae 19:31, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Good point. I took a stab at it and removed wikitictionary notice. As always, feel free to add!Quill 20:39, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Additional Information

Some additional informaiton should be added to the term of 'novelty' as in the feeling with an example, a new car. Something along those terms, and perhaps if it is possible, for it to be linked into human behaviour, as I highly doubt that everyone in modern countries hasn't had this feeling one time or a rather. [edit] Apollo 11

Apollo 11 was in a way a novelty. Everyone wanted to see humanity step on that rock. That was nice, but looked what happened afterwards -- they got so much less funding for it etc. etc. and not many flights went there again. Isn't this worth mentioning? Because novelties simply can't be limited to small personal items in my opinion.
