Nova Štifta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nova Štifta is a village in Slovenia situated on a hill in the eastern Ribnica valley, near the town Sodražica. An octagonal, baroque church from the 17th century (built from 1641-1671) attracts many visitors to the village. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Near the church is a linden tree that is reportedly several hundred years old. Climbing up to the tree house in this tree is a favorite activity of children visiting the church.
