This proposal has failed to attain consensus within the Wikipedia community. A failed proposal is one for which a consensus to accept is not present after a reasonable amount of time, and seems unlikely to form, regardless of continuing discussion.

The common article plague known as the "in popular culture" section of articles, which usually manifests as a form of a trivia section, actually can be appropriate at times. It is imperative, though, that as this is an encyclopedia, popular culture allusions to encyclopedic topics must be presented as encyclopedic prose.

What constitutes a notable reference in popular culture is being discussed.
