My user name is derived from Ephesians 2:8,9:

“ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. ”

According to the Bible, salvation is gained by faith alone in Jesus Christ and that he died in our place. Works (good deeds) are the fruits of salvation, but do not earn salvation.
