Nose Yoritsugu (能瀬頼次? 1562-1626) was a retainer beneath the Akechi clan throughout the late Sengoku period of Feudal Japan. Conjectively becoming a primary supporter to Akechi Mitsuhide around the time at which the former declared his independence from Oda Nobunaga, Yoritsugu supported the forces of Akechi during the 1582 Incident at Honnō-ji. Following with initial service at the Battle of Yamazaki, a mere few days after the previous conflict, Yoritsugu showed moderate ability on the battlefield, confirming a name for himself beneath the name of Mitsuhide up until the point at which he was relatively forced to defect over to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who acted as the justified assailant of the Akechi forces, tearing them apart in vengeance for his assassinated master. Now rendering service beneath the Toyotomi clan, Yoritsugu more than likely only supported in a selective few campaigns such as the invasion of Kyūshū before initially favoring Tokugawa Ieyasu as a more fitting lord. And in resolution to this, Yoritsugu supported Ieyasu throughout the 1600 Battle of Sekigahara, confirming his land within Settsu Province and giving him a rightful seat of honor upon his entry into the Edo period.
