[edit] East India Company
Hi, please try not to link to East India Company as it is a disambiguation page. There are individual articles for the different East India Companies, the correct link for the British one is at British East India Company. Thanks. DuncanHill 14:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Simon, thanks for getting back to me. To leave a message for someone, click on the "discussion" tab at the top of their User Page, or click on "talk" after their name in an article history. Remember to type ~~~~ after your messages, this automatically produces a signature with your username and the time you left your message.
I made a mistake in my message above - the correct article for the British company is now at Honourable East India Company, so that is where relevant links should point. The article at East India Company is a list of several different companies, and should not really have any articles linked to it. You can find out more about this at Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links.
If you want to link to Honourable East India Company but for the link to appear as just East India Company you can type East India Company
I hope this helps! Do try to take a little time to look at some of the links in the welcome box I left you - I have found them really useful in finding my way around Wikipedia, and learning to improve my contributions. Also, it is really important to fill in the edit summary when you make changes to an article. this helps other editors understand what you have done, and your reasons for doing it.
Sorry if some of my edit summaries have seemed a little grumpy - I spent a lot of time fixing links to the East India Company page a while ago, so I might get a little over-possessive about it sometimes!
