Norwich Twenty Group
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Norwich Twenty Group is a group of artists based in Norwich, England. The organization was formed in 1944 after a touring modern art exhibition came to Norwich Castle Museum. Spurred by the public outcry, twenty local young artists created the group to promote understanding of modern art in Norwich. Many well-known artists and sculptors from Norfolk are members of this select group which now has about 60 members. The membership has included Leslie Davenport, Michael Andrews, Mary Newcombe, Bernard Reynolds and Jeffrey Camp. The group holds local meetings with critical reviews of their work. It now holds two meetings per year. The group has also exhibited works together in shows. It has formed links with Norwich's twin cities in Europe and now holds joint exhibitions with Novi Sad in Serbia, Rouen in France and Koblenz in Germany. In 2008 the group's chairman is David Holgate and the exhibitions this year are in Norwich, Novi Sad, Rouen and Belgrade. [1][2]
