Northwest Division (NBA)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Northwest Division is a division in the Western Conference of the NBA. The division was created at the start of the 04-05 season. The Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Jazz came from the now-defunct Midwest Division and the Blazers and the Sonics came from the old Pacific Division. The inaugural Northwest Division winner was the Seattle Supersonics. The defending champions are the Utah Jazz. At the 2007 NBA Draft Lottery, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle SuperSonics received the first two picks, respectively. Portland selected Greg Oden and Seattle selected Kevin Durant as expected. The draft helped renew a Northwest rivalry between the two teams.
