Northview High School is located in Plainfield Township, Kent County, Michigan on the outskirts of Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was a National Blue Ribbon school in 2001 and still prominently displays this achievement on everything associated with NHS. [1]

The NHS Marching Band has made it to State Championships every year since competing in the Michigan Competing Band Association

Dan Matthews won the National Vice Principal of the Year award in 2005, along with $5,000 which he then donated to expanding the weight room.[who?]
Max Colley Jr. won the best band director award at the 2006 marching band state finals.

The average ACT score of Northview for Juniors in the 2006-2007 school year was a 20, which is the national average. Approximately 70% of the students passed each section of the MME (Michigan Merit Exam).
