Northfield News & Transcript
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Northfield News & Transcript is a small weekly newspaper available in Northfield and Roxbury, Vermont, as well as some other local towns. The Northfield News was incorporated in 1878 and merged with the previously-defunct The Falls News (of Northfield Falls) and The Northfield Transcript in January 2007.
That merger marked its sale from Cecelia Barnes to John C. Donahue Jr., who previously ran The Falls News in the 1930s and The Northfield Transcript around 1999 to 2001. At that time, the paper reverted from an 11" by 17" tabloid format back to a 17" by 22" broadsheet, as it had been in the newspaper's early years.
The paper employees several full time employees and several freelance writers. The paper covers local sports, news, and police reports. It also has a local classifieds section and advertisements for businesses in the Northfield area. The paper is sold at many businesses in the area and can also be subscribed to via standard mail.
It is one of the few media outlets for the Northfield area.
