Northern Ireland Court Service
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Northern Ireland Court Service runs the courts of Northern Ireland. It is a "unified and distinct civil service of the Crown"[1], i.e. it is separate from both the Northern Ireland Civil Service and the UK (Home) Civil Service. The NI Supreme Court, county courts, magistrates’ courts, coroners’ courts and certain tribunals are all administered by the Court Service. Its staff work under the direction of the Lord Chancellor[2].
The Service was established in 1979 pursuant to the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978.
