North Woolwich Old Station Museum
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
North Woolwich Old Station Museum is a small railway museum in East London. It is housed in the original station building at North Woolwich railway station, situated next to the later, more austere station which became the eastern terminus of the North London Line from 1985 until it, in turn, closed on 9 December 2006. The museum building was originally a part of the Great Eastern Railway and was derelict for many years until its opening as a museum in 1984.
The collections include historical materials on railways in East London, model trains, and a steam locomotive (not operational). A miniature railway sometimes operates (though not currently). Admission to the museum is free, but there is a charge for the miniature train rides. The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays only, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. between January and November, and at other times.[1]

[edit] Future plans
As of 2006, there were suggestions that the museum would be extended to become a museum for all London's suburban railways, and that a substantial portion of the line be re-opened as a preserved railway and for training purposes.[2]
