[edit] Statement of Beliefs
North County Christian School is part of the Educational Ministry of the Ferguson Church of the Nazarene. The church subscribes to the following Biblical teaching: [2]
God is one eternally existent, infinite Triune God and has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 28:19-20)
Jesus is divine and was fully God and fully man at the same time. (Matthew 1:20-25; Matthew 16:19-20)
The Holy Spirit is active today, convicting the world of sin, giving new life to those who repent and believe, sanctifying believers, and guiding into all truth. (John 7:39; John 14:15-26; John 16:7-15)
The Bible was inherently inspired by God and reveals the will of God in all matters of faith and salvation. (Luke 24:44-47;2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:10-12)
Original sin, the corruption of man by Satan, continues to exist in a Christian's life until cleansed by the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12-14; Romans 7:7-8; Galatians 5:16-25)
Salvation started in God's loving heart, and is grounded in Jesus' sufferings, shedding of blood, death on the cross, and resurrection. (Luke 24:46-48; John 3:14-17; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 4:17-25)
Man is morally responsible for his use of free will and God never takes his freedom of choice from him. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 2:1-16; Romans 3:10-12; Romans 5:6-14; Romans 6:15-16; Romans 7:14-25; Romans 10:6-8)
Repentance involves a sense of personal guilt and a voluntary turning away from sin. (Mark 1:14-15, Luke 3:1-14)
In salvation, God sees a person as if he had never sinned, is given a new life beginning, and is adopted into God's family. (John 1:12-13; John 3:3-8; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 4:5-19; Romans 8:1-17)
God gives a pure heart to those who are brought into complete devotion to God and that this work of God's grace is complete sanctification. (John 7:37-39; John 14:15-23; John 17:6-20; Romans 6:11-13; Romans 8:1-14; Romans 12:1-2)
Jesus will come to earth again and those who are His will go to live with Him eternally and those that do not belong to Him will spend eternity in Hell. (Matthew 25:31-46; John 14:1-3; Revelation 1:7-8; Revelation 22:7-20)
Christian baptism is an outward sign of the acceptance of Jesus. (Matthew 3:1-7; Matthew 28:16-20)
Communion is a sacrament that declares Jesus' sacrificial death. (Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:17-20; John 6:28-58)
God can and does heal body, mind, and emotions, and allows providential agencies and persons to aid in the healing process. (Matthew 4:23-24; Matthew 9:18-35; John 4:46-54; James 5:13-16)
A person receives the fruit of the Spirit when he becomes a believer. The gifts of the Spirit are given by God's will alone and no gift is superior to any other and no gift is universally given to all believers. (Galatians 5:22-25; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Ephesians 4:11-12)

[edit] Philosophy of Education
NCCS's philosophy of education is a theology of education, because it is built on Biblical principles. Pertinent passages of scripture are Deuteronomy 6:5-7, Ephesians 4:11-16 and Romans 12:1-2.
According to Deuteronomy 6:5-7 all education, and especially Christian education, begins in the home. Parents are the primary developers of a child's education. This responsibility cannot be taken from them, nor can they give it away.
Ephesians 4:11-16 teaches that God has given some the gift of teaching. Their responsibility is to "equip the students for works of service." They do not take the parents' place; but become a "para-parent" for the students.
NCCS's ultimate goal in Christian education is found in Romans 12:1-2: To help the students be transformed by the renewing of their minds, so they will be able to test and approve what God's will is for them. This renewing is always based on a student's submission to the Lordship of Jesus.
Those who come from other than the Church of the Nazarene are certainly welcome. NCCS do not expect them to renounce their own faith or doctrine in order to attend NCCS. NCCS does expect them to abide by the doctrines and standards of the Church of the Nazarene while enrolled here.
The academic standards, at North County Christian School, are secondary to the primary responsibility to educate children in light of scripture according to our faith. This does not mean that academics are of little importance. NCCS has a higher academic standard than many schools because Christians should exemplify only the highest standards.
NCCS trusts you will find the education at North County Christian School the best available to you and your family. NCCS is constantly improving their educational programs. Their hope is that together we can increase in knowledge, wisdom and spiritual growth.[4]
[edit] Admission Policy
North County Christian School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs, athletic or other school-administered programs.
Admittance is contingent upon a satisfactory record (both behaviorally and academically), satisfactory results on our entrance examination, and parental assurance that they and the student share the same goals and objectives of the school.[5]
[edit] Student Commitment
As a Christian school, NCCS is dedicated to Christian Education which glorifies God. It is in existence to help students grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and academically. We teach that there should be a direct relationship between what a Christian student believes and how she or he behaves. NCCS requires that all NCCS students abstain both on and off campus from the use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, profane language, and immoral behavior. Violations are considered as breaking the firm commitment that each student makes when voluntarily choosing to attend North County Christian School.[6]
