Nordin Abdullah is best known for his development of the concept of Halal,[citation needed] taking it from obscurity as a purely Islamic belief to a major force in the international business world[citation needed]. He and his business partner and wife, Jumaatun Azmi[citation needed], have developed an international Halal service industry[citation needed] that has made them the most prominent exponents of Halal[citation needed] and together they have been responsible for bringing Halal to the forefront as a major international business model[citation needed] and have changed the perception of doing business with the Islamic world[citation needed].

Nordin is the Executive Director of KasehDia Sdn Bhd[citation needed] and a recent article in The Asian Wall Street Journal describes KasehDia as "Making a bid to become the Muslim world leading proponent of Halal"[citation needed]. KasehDia have a number of leading projects that have been developed[citation needed]. Their international offerings include the best selling and award winning Halal Food Guides[citation needed], launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia[citation needed], Dato Seri Abdullah Badawi, in 2004, covering some seven countries across the globe[citation needed]. The Halal Journal a bimonthly magazine targeted to businesses in the global Halal market is the leading voice in the Global Halal Industry, read by decision makers in over 35 different countries[citation needed]. The magazine spawned the ground breaking Halal Journal TV show which airs on TV3 in Malaysia[citation needed]. Nordin, as one of the Executive Producers, took the promotion of Halal even further[citation needed].

World Halal Forum has fast become the premier event in the Global Halal industry the "World Halal Forum will become an annual gathering, whose clout will be felt wherever there are Muslim consumers[citation needed]" Radio Free Europe. As more Muslim consumers enter the middle class[citation needed] in the Middle East[citation needed], Asia[citation needed], and Europe[citation needed], they are becoming more demanding. And Nordin Abdullah, one of the conference organizers, says global retailers are responding to what is already a $500 billion-a-year industry[citation needed].

"Halal is starting to move more mainstream, so you're seeing companies like Tesco, which were attending and speaking at the forum, talking about the new halal ranges that they're introducing in their stores throughout Europe," he says[citation needed]. "We also had Nestle, which is of course a European-based multinational company, who have done amazing things in terms of developing quality halal products out of Malaysia and other places around the world," Abdullah adds. Nordin Abdullah, the executive director of Kasehdia, a Malaysian firm that deals with Islamic goods and services, says a growing Muslim population is opening up profitable markets in everything from banking to Halal food[citation needed]. "You see throughout the Muslim world population growth is growing very fast," he said. Speaking at the Asian Middle East Economic Dialogue[citation needed] in Thailand recently, Nordin highlighted the need for closer cooperation between Asian and Middle Eastern countries to penetrate markets which are dominated by Western food producers and stressed the importance of working together to achieve the goals of the Halal market[citation needed].

Well travelled in Asia where he is a sought after speaker at conferences[citation needed], Nordin has an unparalleled understanding of issues facing both governments and businesses[citation needed]. His expert knowledge of global trends in the Halal and Islamic worlds brings a fresh perspective and makes him somewhat of an expert whose views are sought after by governments, business and the international media[citation needed].

Nordin has proven his entrepreneurial ability in the key role he has played in developing KasehDia[citation needed]. Nordin also sits on the boards of several companies, and on the Board of Trustees of the International Halal Industry Alliance[citation needed].
