The folklore of England's north east and Scotland's Border have been connected for centuries partly due to the fact that the two were connected under the Kingdom of Northanhymbre(Northumbria) and then kept changing between England and Scotland, and partly due to cross-border contact. The border between England and Scotland is thought largely political rather than cultural. [1]
