  • Orphaned, that's not wikipedia's logo! OsamaK 09:28, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
    • The hell it's not Wikipedia's logo. It's a version suited for dark backgrounds that I use in my custom skin. It's "orphaned" because it's linked to in CSS. The standard Image:Wiki.png is made for light backgrounds and looks like crap on a dark one. And if we can't use the Wikipedia logo in the same way as the official default skin, then where can we use it? -- Cyrius| 15:40, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Hm, interesting. This image is tagged to say "This image is copyrighted by the Wikimedia foundation. It is one of the official logos or designs used by the Wikimedia foundation or by one of its projects." The question is, is this image (a trademarked mechanically modified to look better in some contexts) still an official logo used by Wikimedia? If it's not, it should be deleted as a copyvio, since it would be a derivative image of a non-GFDL work. But if it's officially considered the same Wikipedia logo, just with border pixels modified for easy viewing (the same way a rescaled version of the image is the same image, just bigger/smaller), then this is no problem. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:37, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
  • I would think that it would be the latter case. The differences between this version and the "official" version are rather trivial, compared to the graphical elements which actually make up the logo -Seidenstud 05:35, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
  • I concur. A derivative work would have to be at least somewhat derivative (as opposed to being more or less exactly the same image). --Cheeser1 05:58, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
