China Kantner & alcohol addiction
China Kantner's alcohol addiction problems have been mentioned and discussed in numerous publications and interviews with China, who also mentions it on her personal MySpace profile. I have added references to this end to her entry - please do not remove this section, as it is very relevant to her biography and a subject she has openly discussed in many interviews. Other specific references will follow shortly, as soon as I have located them in my personal archive of China Kantner-related material. Gidz (talk) 23:03, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Outing Riley
Well, I never actually doubted the film's existence or whether Steve was in it or not, but moreso of whether it met the notability requirements of WP:FILM. I also know that User:Joe Destruction was making good faith attempts to add info to the article, but he was obviously completely going about it in the wrong way. I just didn't have time to attempt to coach him late last night. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 12:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sure I know, I was just letting you know what I was doing to try and avoid hard feelings. Cheers! Nobody of Consequence (talk) 15:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks guys, I am new and I am reading more of the links that were provided by "Nobody Of Consequence" so that I can continue to contribute, but do so properly within the guidelines. Thanks for the help and nice to see that there are so many Steve Dahl fans out there willing to get the story right. I will do some more reading and try to get "in line" with what I should be doing here. Thanks Joe Destruction (talk) 18:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I like the changes you've made. As you obviously noticed, I'm adding more info as I find it. I recently discovered that I can tap into Newsbank at home with my library card. Feel free to modify and/or move it around to more appropriate places. After rereading some of the stuff I put in, I realize that it doesn't always flow well, but I don't feel like dedicating too much more to this tonight.
Just some thoughts, but I would like to add a "Personal life" section and something along the lines of "Early life" section. I'm trying to gather some basic things about his family (Janet, and sons). I have a bit of info and sources, but not enough to start the section. I think a mention of his parents & brother in CA would be worthwhile, too. I don't know how this would affect the shape of the "Controversies and personal battles" section. Maybe that will have to get reworked if a "Personal life" section gets added. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 03:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I went ahead and added the "Personal life" section anyway. I need to get to bed. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 03:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

AFD hiccup
Thanks for that. Note to self: Twinkle doesn't like to do AFDs right... Tony Fox (arf!) 17:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
the bot made a mistake
Hi, Nobody of Consequence.
At the Bizarro Fiction article a Bot identified a change I made as vandalism. But, if you look carefully, you will see that the change I made was to my own previous edit. I had second thoughts and decided that stylistically it would be better to shorten my earlier addition to the article.
If, in your considered editorial opinion, the longer original version of my edit should stand, then thanks very much for your reversion. I don't mind either way.
But is there any way you could remove your public statement that I am a vandal?
Thanks much! Sigmoidflexure Sigmoidflexure (talk) 04:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate your fixing that. Cheers. Sigmoidflexure (talk) 06:29, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Joseph Konopka
So, if a newspaper said Joseph Konopka was also a brain surgeon, Wikipedia would parrot that even if it where not true? The most that can be said for Joseph Konopka is that he was a Systems Admin. And really, what is a "computer expert" anyway? Is that really an appropriate thing to say for such a nebulous term? It's so nebulous as to be meaningless. On the other hand, it CAN be said that Joseph Konopka was a Systems Admin.
CLEARLY by Wikipedia's OWN DEFINITION, Joseph Konopka was not a "computer expert", he was a Systems Admin. Proxy User (talk) 17:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- The reference says computer expert and that is what the article should say. We don't know anything beyond what the references say about him for the purposes of the article, as anything else would be original research. Reinterpreting the provided reliable source which very clearly refers to him as a computer expert is not in keeping with policy. We should say what the references say. He worked as a systems admin, but that doesn't mean he wasn't also a computer expert. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 22:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
First projection TV
People have been producing projection TVs since the 1940s - If you want an example of them being "mass-marketed" see http://www.tvhistory.tv/tv-prices.htm - specifically http://www.tvhistory.tv/1949-Emerson-Protelgram-Proj-AD.JPG and http://www.tvhistory.tv/1948_GE_Advert.JPG or (1950s) http://www.tvhistory.tv/1951-Valradio-TVA-Proj-TV-UK.JPG . The claim doesn't hold up to scructiny. Megapixie (talk) 05:21, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay - link to google patent - better interface . The date of this patent is 1976 Here is a 73 Sony patent on a rear projection design, a 74 Sony projection patent. If you go earlier you'll find various patents going back to the 1940s for projection systems various rca patents: here. A 1948 patent for a rear projection television [1]. In fact just look at this or this
- If you want to talk about bringing projection television into the mainstream look at Henry Kloss see this 1975 brochure or this 1974 TV guide article.
- Rear projection TV had been done many many times before, and "mass-marketed", and better more notable front projection systems were being widely marketed at the same time. In conclusion: Munst just doesn't merit mention in the lead of either article. His key notability lies in cheap normal televisions produced in the 1950s and eight track stereo units - something that's clear from his NY times obit here Megapixie (talk) 06:20, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Images
Thanks for a hand. For whatever reason, those fellows selected me for a review today. Anyway, I have a request. Can you add Ghirla's talk to your watchlist and help fixing his images whenever he gets hit by bots. This was one of the most prolific Wikipedia writers who retired for the reasons explained at his user page. Thanks, --Irpen 00:31, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Dahl
| Part of it is indescribable. He has the ability to make people feel very comfortable when they listen to him. People can identify with him. It's a form of charisma. They either have it, or they don't. And the other thing is he has a terrific ability to tell stories and describe things very visually on the air. [Being a shock jock] was certainly what got him noticed, but he's been able to sustain and last because there's a lot more to his act than that... His whole soul is spread out before his audience. John Gehron, prior WLS programming manager[1] |
Obviously, as you've already seen, I've added quite a bit more to the article. It's late, and I can't seem to figure out a good spot to put this quote. I was thinking the opening paragraph, but it looks ugly almost every way that I've tried. Maybe the format needs tweaking, changing, undoing, or maybe the quote doesn't belong at all. Anyway, feel free to play with it if you can and also fix any of my crappy writing, too. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 06:24, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe the part, "His whole soul is spread out before his audience." is good enough? I dunno. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 06:25, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
