[edit] Reconsider...University of Limerick History Society

It is highly unfair that you have chosen to pick this article for deletion, since it is work in progress. To encourage the participation of sudents in socities it is necessary to create a full and accurate reference to each club and society. The page is not yet finished and awaits information on the Journal History Studies which is the only student-run academic journal in Ireland and one of the few in Europe. This is a serious and prominent achievement. You suggestion that the society has won no awards is inaccurate and you have displayed little patience in awaiting the completion of the article.

An entry on this fine site without completion is necessary for students to have an initial referral and for present Doctors and Professors who are former members of the Society.

The individuals listed are only the committee and not the full membership.

I have been instructed to request that you reconsider your suggestion and allow for the completion of this page. Thankyou for your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Noblecitizen (talkcontribs)

Hello, I have nominated the page for deletion on the grounds that I do not believe the club meets to the notability criteria to merit a page on Wikipedia. The award that you have entered in the article appears to be that it has won an award for being the best club in the University, which is not sufficient of its own accord unless there are other clubs in the university which are notable for wikipedia. Nominations are not made on the basis of whether the article is good or incomplete, but whether there is an assertion in the article as to why the subject is notable, which in this case it would appear not to be. Also, I do not believe that nominating an article for deletion amounts to a violation of WP:BITE as it is a comment on the worthiness of the subject, not the writing or contributing ability of yourself. A similar case occurred a few months ago at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adelaide University Engineering Society. If you would like to debate this, please put comments on the deletion page, rather than blanking it and asserting that the deletion is invalid and also removing the tag on the article.
