Noble Leslie Devotie (January 24, 1838 – February 12, 1861) was the main contributing founder of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was also the first Alabama soldier to die in the American Civil War when he misstepped while boarding a ship and drowned.[1][2]
