The Noble Consort Ying (Chinese: 颖贵妃巴林氏) (1731 - 1800), was born during the ninth year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign. She was the daughter of banner Lieutenant General Nachin (Chinese: 都统纳亲), and came from the Mongolian Barin clan.

[edit] Biography

When Lady Barin first entered the Imperial Court, she was given the title Worthy Lady (Chinese: 贵人), which is the third-lowest rank among the wives of an emperor. In June during the sixteenth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, Lady Barin was elevated to the Imperial Concubine Ying (Chinese: 颖嫔). During the twenty-second year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, Lady Barin was then elevated to an imperial consort, and finally, during the third year of the next emperor, Emperor Jiaqing's reign, Lady Barin was finally elevated to the Noble Consort Ying. On the seventieth birthday of the old Dowager Consort Ying, a younger brother of Emperor Jiaqing came to her residence to celebrate it, and presented her with gifts. However, Emperor Jiaqing later harshly scolded his younger brother for doing so, because it broke royal traditions. As a result, the seventieth birthday celebration of Dowager Consort Ying became meaningless, and she died on February 29, during the fifth year of the Jiaqing Emperor's reign, aged 70.
